Weizmann Day School kicked off another exciting school year on August 29. For those of you who do not know us, Weizmann is a small, K-8 Jewish day school located on the campus of Pasadena Jewish Temple & Center (PJTC). We are the only Jewish day school between the San Fernando Valley and Las Vegas. We pride ourselves on being a warm, welcoming, diverse community. Weizmann wishes the entire community a happy, healthy, and wonder-filled new year!
Weizmann is thrilled to announce that we will once again host a free, interfaith concert honoring the memory of slain journalist Daniel Pearl. This year’s concert is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on October 19, 2017 at PJTC (1434 N. Altadena Drive in Pasadena). Please join us for this special event!
Daniel Pearl was an accomplished journalist, ultimately holding the position of South Asia Bureau Chief for The Wall Street Journal. Pearl was murdered by Pakistani terrorists in early 2002.
Throughout his life, Daniel Pearl was passionate about music. In late 2002, Daniel’s family invited people everywhere to dedicate a musical event on the day that Daniel would have turned 39 years old: October 10, 2002. Since that time, the event — Daniel Pearl World Music Days – has grown to include over 13,000 events in 140 countries.
Every October since 2004, Weizmann has joined thousands of other organizations in honoring Daniel Pearl’s memory. Each year, we host New Horizon Muslim School and St. Marks Christian School in a musical program. It is a beautiful sight to see children from the three Abrahamic faiths on the stage singing songs of peace and hope. Please make it a point to join us this year!
Weizmann’s Mission: to provide an enriching education, rooted in Jewish traditions and values, which fosters critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, character and compassion.
